Message
from the Development Director
Our Motherhouse has room for 34 Sisters, but there are 73 of us. I live with two of my Sisters on the east side of the city. There we have a large perennial garden. How I enjoy tending the plants and watching for the flowers to bloom. Some of the plants really struggled during the hot, dry days of summer.
Now it is fall and time to get the plants ready for winter. As I do, I split some and move some to other spots in the garden, all with hope that I will see them healthy and blooming next summer.
Like plants, we struggle through what the “seasons” bring and through the “uprooting” times of our lives. Illness comes, a job changes, a loved one dies, and on and on. Such challenges, or rather our response to those challenges, form us into the persons we are. We can become stronger or weaker, resilient or bitter, open to a new day or isolated from life. We who believe in Jesus trust his promise to be with us always. We also trust that He desires fullness of life for us. Often looking back on our lives, we see more clearly the help and blessings we received along the way.
Whatever “season” it now is for you, may you know God is with you and see God’s good gifts.

spiritual value in what we do have. Sister Joan Chittister
