Associates Renew Commitment to Mission

On September 14, seventeen Associates renewed their commitment to the Sisters’ mission. What a fitting day as the Church celebrated the Exultation of the Holy Cross, the feast day of the Community.
Sister Fran Bangert, director of the Associate Program, shared a reflection on this powerful feast that “celebrates Christ’s victory over suffering and death and the triumph of love over hate and faith over despair…God loved the world so much that He gave us Jesus who lived in self-emptying obedience and outpouring love, leading Him to embrace death on a cross. Jesus’ downward movement led him into the depths of the human experience with all its fears, anxiety, anguish and dread. His humble surrendering of all things into the hands of the Father was at the same time a moment of exultation by the Father. Jesus was victorious over suffering and death for all time.”
During the evening prayer, all present witnessed the 1st Associate Renewal of Carole and Roger Strohm; the 2nd renewal of Phyllis Aude, Linda Bushmaker, Carol Kwaterski, Lucy Timmers, and Lorrie Van Bakel; the 5th renewal of Pat Braun, Jean and John Dillon, Tillie Huc, Doris Peterson, Joan Stone, and Nancy Verber; the 6th renewal of Elly Le Roy; and the 8th renewal of Muriel De Namur and Loretta Dyer.

 In 1956, the words “of the Holy Cross” were added to our Community name, Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, in recognition of our Crosier founder, Father Edward Daems, a priest of the Holy Cross. |
