Isaiah 58, a National Solidarity Vigil and Fasting for Arizona and for Justice for all Immigrants.

In chapter 58 of Isaiah, the fasting that pleases God involves setting captives free, loosening the yoke of bondage, feeding the hungry - in short, performing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.  During the week of July 11-17, we, Sisters and Associates, joined all in the upper Midwestern states in prayers of solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters and with all who oppose Arizona's anti-immigrant law.  Two of the week's events were held at our Motherhouse.

Wednesday, July 14, the DVD Dying to Live: A Migrant's Journey was shown.  Friday, July 16, an Interfaith Prayer Service for Immigration Justice was held.  These two events coincided with other events held at St. Norbert Abbey Church, De Pere; Emmanuel Methodist Church, Appleton; St. Willebrord Parish, Green Bay; and Sacred Heart Church, Appleton.

These events express our support of the US Bishops call to pray for and support immigration reform.  You can Read the US and Mexican Bishops' joint pastoral, Strangers No Longer, at
