Sister Rosalie Marcouiller Dies
Sister Rosalie Marcouiller died Sunday morning, October 26, after suffering a bleed in the brain less than a week before. She died peacefully and leaves us all with many precious memories especially of her smile and love for everyone she met.
Sister Rosalie Marcouiller was born January 24, 1928 to Bertha and Nary Marcouiller in Tomahawk, WI. She entered the Community of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in September 1947. She was the niece of Sister Annette Marcouiller.
Sister Rosalie taught in Catholic elementary schools for 16 years and also became a certified librarian. She did pastoral work among the Carrier Indians of Tache, British Columbia for 15 years. Sr. Rosalie resided at the Motherhouse since 1993.
Sister Rosalie had a deep concern for preserving the environment, a love of gardening, did letter writing to legislators on behalf of the poor, was a great teller of jokes and possessed an ever-present smile. In earlier years, she did a great deal of knitting. One of the greatest joys of her religious life was working among the Carrier Indians.
The quote under her picture in the Community directory says: “Like St. Francis, I look on everything in life as a gift from my loving Father.” May Sister Rosalie enjoy eternal peace in the house prepared for her by our loving Father.
