We Remember Sister Mary John Moureau
Sister Mary John Moureau, 86, died on September 3rd at Parkview Nursing Home. Her family home filled with 11 girls and two boys was near the Bay Settlement Convent which she joined in 1941. Sister Mary John celebrated her diamond jubilee in 2001.
Throughout her years of ministry she served others’ basic needs with great love and care. She served disabled children at the Chapel in Robinsonville, adult residents at the McCormick Home, retreatants at the Chambers Island Retreat House, and her Sisters at St. Jude, Green Bay; Holy Cross, Mishicot; St. Mary, Bear Creek; and the Motherhouse, Bay Settlement.
Sister Mary John is survived by her brother Richard (Joan) Moureau; her sisters, Bernice (Robert) Jacobs, Marilyn (Milton) Craanen, Jean (Donald) Smits, Rita (Peter) Jauquet, Rosemary (Constant) Vanness, Joyce (Carol) Berg, Doris (Clarence) Ducat, Loretta (Dale) Vanderkin, Judy (Darrell) Lardinois; brother-in-law Richard Bielinski; sister-in-law Rita Moureau; nieces, nephews, and by her Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mamie Moureau, her sister Shirley Bielinski, her brother Walter Moureau, and her brothers-in-law Stanley Boteski, and Orlin Pirlot.
Sister Mary John will be remembered for her love of community, her generous service to others, her great laugh, her skill at making candles for Eucharistic celebrations and gifts, and in these last years, her enjoyment at bingo.
