"Thank you, Lord, for letting the beautiful world of nature remind us of our loving Creator."
Sr. Marie Therese Kintziger

Sister Marie Therese Kintziger, OSF, 82, passed peacefully to her eternal reward on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011. The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Rev. Msgr. James Feely on Oct. 27 at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road.

Joyce Kintziger was born July 29, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to Claire (Boddy) and Michael Kintziger. When Joyce was 11 years old her mother died. Her father felt he was not able to properly care for her so he sent her to Duck Creek (Howard) to be raised by his sister, Katherine Nadeau and her husband, Ray, along with their daughter, Rosemary.

She entered the community in August 1947. She was received on August 12, 1948, and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 2008.

Sister Marie Therese was a homemaker in many of the Community convents including St. John the Baptist, Duck Creek; The Crippled Children's Home at the Chapel in Robinsonville (now the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help), Ss. Peter and Paul, Institute; St. Isidore, Osman; and Holy Angels, Darboy. She spent 33 years in service to the elderly at the McCormick Memorial Home in Allouez. In 1996 she came home to the Motherhouse and served her Sisters as a nurse's aide for several years.

Sister spent her golden years in community service humbly working at various tasks and tending some of the flower gardens around the convent. She rejoiced in giving the Sisters, office staff and employees fresh roses and other flowers. She enjoyed a game of cards (500) with her Sisters each evening.

Sister will be remembered for her love of Community, spirit of generosity, her love of nature and flower gardens. She used her little camera to photograph flowers and little creatures. She enjoyed taking pictures of the artistic creations displayed in downtown Green Bay during the summer. These photographs she made into cards and framed pictures. Her winter hobby was candle making. She shared the products of these activities by her many gifts to the Sisters and others.

Last year, she wrote a brief reflection on the beauty and wonder of gardening.
