Early History
The Sisters of St. Francis at Bay Settlement were officially recognized by the Diocese of Green Bay on March 14, 1881. As early as 1968, our founding Sisters -- Pauline LaPlante, Christine Rousseau, Pius Doyle, and Mary Van Lanen -- took up ministry including teaching and providing health care among immigrant families in Northeast Wisconsin at the request of our founding Father, Edward Francis Daems.
