Dear Friends,
The third chapter of the Book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that “there is a season for everything …a time for every purpose under heaven.” At this time in our Community’s history, it was a time for us to build something new.
As a Community, we, Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, continue to read the signs of the times in offering our service to God’s people and in being responsible stewards of our own future.
Many of you have faced the challenges of a home that is now too large for you or a living space no longer suited to your physical needs. As a Community with members who continue to age, we faced the same questions. Like many of you, we knew we needed a smaller, more energy efficient, and more elder-friendly home for our Sisters and administrative offices that would meet our current needs.
As you can imagine, this was an ambitious undertaking for our small but vibrant community of 76 Sisters. While we believe the decision is the best one for our Community, it will seriously impact us for the foreseeable future. Having committed ourselves to hard work and further cutting of expenses wherever possible, we also realized that the financial burden would be significant. We undertook this project with faith in God’s generosity and in yours. Only with assistance from generous people like yourselves can we move into such a future with faith and a sense of peace.
We thank you who have and are considering our need for help with this project. We promise to hold you and your loved ones in prayer each day.
